SCS football team got their season off to a flyer with a comprehensive 10 – 2 victory over Hillcrest School. SCS got off to a commanding start, going 3 – 0 up after goals from Callam Henry, Galore Mawarire and Anton Nesbeth in the first 15 minutes. Before half time Galore had completed his hat-trick and Callam added a 6th with a screamer from 20 yards. Hillcrest scored 2 goals towards the end of the half to make it 6 – 2 going into half time.
Half time: Hillcrest 2 SCS 6
Hillcrest started the 2nd half on the front foot and created a few early chances, forcing a fine save from goalkeeper Amoy Givans. Order was soon restored however, with another goal apiece from Anton and Galore. Cameron Martin added a further two goals with a penalty and a fine solo effort and Dante Ebanks also went close with a rasping shot that just missed the post. Solid defensive performances from Mohammed Thouqeer, Alam Chowdhury, Charlie Nightingale and Matthew Oakley ensured SCS conceded no goals in the second half. The game ended 10 – 2, but could have been more had it not been for the Hillcrest goalkeeper making a string of good saves.
