Sandwell Community School is a multi-site pupil referral unit for KS3 and KS4 students. All pupils have been permanently excluded from mainstream school or are at risk of such. The PRU has undergone a number of significant changes to ensure that we meet the demands and challenges. The following will provide an overview of our new approach.

INDUCTION @ Wednesbury …….   (Centre Hours – 9am to 2.30pm and Friday 9am to 1.30pm)

Any new permanently (PX) student that joins SCS, attends the INDUCTION campus @ Wednesbury. Here we get to know the student, establish their baselines and develop a profile of the student. It is also an opportunity for the students to begin to understand our high expectations. We work in partnership with other services to ensure that we can understand and then meet the needs of those students to enable them to re-create themselves, with our support, as soon as is possible. Further intervention is provided for those students we deemed to be requiring the additional support to meet their learning needs.

COPE @ Smethwick …….                   (Centre Hours – 9am to 2.30pm and Friday 9am to 1.30pm)

This is the campus where there is a focus on improving their personal effectiveness. We offer more of a therapeutic approach and use alternative provision to meet their needs. This is also the base for our Outreach service, with the key to re-engaging our students into a full time education.

SCHOOL @ West Brom …….             (Centre Hours – 9am to 2.30pm and Friday 9am to 1.30pm)

This is the main campus and the expectation we set is that all students should be based here. The students are split into Y11, Y10 and KS3 teaching groups. KS4 follow a curriculum that will provide them with at least five qualifications, including English and Maths. The priority with Y10 is to enable students to achieve accreditation at the end of Y10. Y9 follow the core and project based learning (PBL).

PREVENTATIVE @ Tividale …….    (Centre Hours – 9am to 2.30pm and Friday 9am to 1.30pm)

This is the campus that is dedicated to preventing KS3 permanent exclusions and can be accessed by any of the Sandwell secondary schools. A preventative provision is available and the latest details can be found by following NEW Preventative Provision Secondary schools may purchase a range of durations from a short term to an extended place.
